Georgia Power

Georgia Power is an investor-owned, tax-paying utility that serves customers in 57,000 of the state's 59,000 square miles. The company's 2.3 million customers are in all but four of Georgia's 159 counties.

Georgia Power, the largest of four electric utilities that make up the Southern Company, has been providing electricity to Georgia for more than a century. Preston Arkwright, Georgia Power's first president, gave the company its motto, "A Citizen Wherever We Serve," a vision that still guides the way for generations of Georgia Power people.
